In the middle of last month, The Mechanical Engineering Club held, as promised, official trips to the Emirates Engineering Maintenance Facility; open for all students. It was originally planned that there would be three trips but because of high demand and overbooked excursions, we had to add another trip. At the facility, students were welcomed warmly by Aircraft Engineer Abdul Majeed Al-Jesmi, and were taken deep inside the plane hangars and their respective maintenance facilities underground. They learnt the procedures undergone when servicing the planes; from the braking systems to the larger than life engines themselves. Students also learnt how Non Destructive Testing is performed on different parts associated with the aircraft. We hope you all learnt a lot from the trip, and for those who did not get to go, we assure you that there will be more trips to industry in the semesters to come at AUS.
